Several developmental or acquired conditions associated with teeth or prostheses may predispose patients to diseases of the periodontium.The collaboration of periodontal excerpts from the American Academy of Periodontology and European Federation of Periodontology consisted of the revisit of the 1999 AAP classification for periodontal diseases and conditions with inclusion of periodontal manifestations in patients medical history. Conclusions of this study drew an update of systemic disorders that have a major impact on the loss of periodontal tissues by influencing periodontal inflammation.
